How to measure the size for а cuff?

MyGems

Cuff needs to be the right size – you need to be able to slip it in. Too large might fall off and too tight might be uncomfortable.

You have two alternatives for the correct measurement:

Measure using an existing cuff bangle

If you have an existing cuff which is perfect size and the same shape as the one you are currently designing, use a ruler and measure the following:

  • Long inner diameter
  • Short inner diameter
  • Length of the opening

Tools needed: ruler or measuring tape, either in centimeters (cm) and inches (in).

Measure with an existing cuff bangle for reference

If you don’t have any old bangles for reference, take following three types of measurements:

  • Ask yourself how low / high would you like the cuff to fall when your arm is down / up? This is the place you should measure the size. Use a flexible measuring tape or string and a ruler to measure the circumference on this spot.
  • Measure the snug circumference of your on the narrowest part of your wrist. This is where you slip the cuff into your wrist.
  • Additionally measure the thickness of the narrowest point of wrist. As this is not so easy to measure accurately without special measuring tools (like slide caliper), estimate it is by using a ruler. This is why we also want (B) for reference. Typically the thickness is around 3cm ± few mm.
